ok i've decided I've decided to have custom made pipes made for my car, now i need to know what muffler i should get. i was considering the flowmaster 80 series but i dont know which one to get. what do you think

once again i dont want to hear shit about exhaust on a V6:)

get a magnaflow performance muffler.it sounds great on my 2001 grand am gt.a camaro ss style muffler

Flowmasters don't flow the best, but on a v6 you should be ok.

I would go with the flowmasters just for the reason that they are deeping in tone and that would hide the fact that you have a 6 cylinder.

Damn car-guy, we finally agree on something! How did your tranny swap go?

hahaha. NOt bad, had a bit of trouble with the changing of the auto console to the manuel, but other than that, its good. I even picked up almost a full half second at the strip. :D should have dont that a long time ago.

Flowmasters are horrible on our cars. They are actually more restrictive than stock. That means that you will loose power, but it will sound better. If you want to get flowmasters get their 1 series mufflers, they flow very well. the 80 series sucks.

yet more wrong advise from unregistered. The 80 series flowmasters will flow better than a stock muffler on a v-6. It is not always the flow because you need some back pressure to keep your valves functioning properly.

WOW, Thats the stupidest thing Ive ever heard, I think this guy is just typing sh*t to try and sound like he knows what hes talking about, FYI, the stock exhaust is extreamly restrictive, just the factory "Y" pipe alone is restrictive, Why would flowmaster, or any other brand for that matter, MAKE an exhaust to SELL, that is worse than factory!? Sounds like the dumbest marketing gig in the world to me. " hey, buy a flowmaster, we make your car lose power!" :D Yeah, now that I think about it, kinda makes sence to me!

Once again, AGREEEEEEEDDD!!! Stupid a*s unregistered, he probably doesnt even have a TransAm. I think he maybe drives a geo metro or somthing, for all the "good" advise he dishes out, if he does have one, its probably dead by now, if he takes care of it the way he tells others to do. :D

man you are an idiot, Go look into some decent interent sites and get knowledge. The flowmaster (80 Series) actually looses power compared to stock. Look on ls1tech and you will find countless people saying the same thing and have dyno charts to back it up. The flowmaster might sound good, but don't perform.

Hey unregistered did you notice that the car we are talking about is a 6 cylinder? I would agree that putting flowmasters on an ls1 may not be the best but the stock exhaust on those cars are restrictive throughout.

why mod a V6 they will still be slow and cost way too much money to get fast

You really dont know sh*t do you!? What if he cant afford to build a full out V8? Or he has a nice V6 thats a starter car? A V6 car you know it hasnt been rat bagged all to hard, so it wont be as beat up as some 8s, I have seen a few V6's thatll beat my car, and thats no slouch. spend 4000 on the engine, and itll take just about anything out there, a 6 or not. And insurance will be way cheaper, ever heard of a "sleeper"? Probably not seeing as you dont know anything about cars, race a turbo 300zx, there "only" a 6, not much lighter if any than a Camaro or Transam, and a 2300 twin turbo thats a cheap set up will move that car quite well, that 3.8 V6 stock that he has in his car has 200hp, get heads, full exhaust, cold air and a chip, a mild cam, your under 3000 spent and have around 310 or so hp. But you wouldnt know anything about that, the only cars I bet youve worked on is those "hot wheels" cars. So pipe down and leave the guy alone. And to the guy building the 6er, dont let that halfwit discourage you, keep working on it, enjoy your car, and once again hes wrong, a V6 can be a nice hot rod, thats not too hard of fuel also. So ignore what that "know it all" has to say, have fun with your car, let us know how it goes.

Actually I do know quite a lot obout cars, and I even used to have a 98 camaro v6 5spd. It was ok but to get to the power level of a stock f-body you would be spending more money on mods than you would for just a stock v8. A twin turbo 300zx is a lot heavier than a F-body, and start to have problems with the halfshafts around 425hp.

Now if the V6 guy wanted to make some good power he could make a turbo kit. He could look up Tiago on v6firebird.com, as he is the master when it comes to the v6 in a f-body.

Why would you ever drop 4 grand on a V6, when a stock v8 would do the same if not better.
