I'm trying to find a new muffler for my 2001 pontiac sunfire 2.2l coupe cuz i punched a hole in my old one but I want to get a performance one instead just to upgrade so what inlet size is the stock muffler and what would be a good brand muffler yall would reccomend?

Per listing on Autozone search and good past experience, I went with the Thrush Turbo, a lot cheaper too! $27 vs. $118 for Walker Quiet-flow and $76 for Walker SoundFX. If you decide to go wih same it is part number 17711- this was closer to stock dimensions than any other listed.

Had to shorten muffler strap - fold over end of bottom strap and use existing hole as drill guide for new hole, re-contour strap to fit around muffler.

Need to add tailpiece - I went with 1 7/8" (got tired looking for one) but with a little patience you should find one that'll fit over muffller pipe rather than in. Watch out for ID vs. OD as some tailpipe mfr's don't provide the info.

Sounds gutsy, with a good rumble, very little and only occasional rasp (e.g. off-throttle when revving in neutral) - not ricey, not too loud where authorities might have a issue. (passed inspection too!) Car feels spunkier as well, used to feel chocked with stock.

oh yeah, he asked about exhaust pipe size

Sorry, never answered the previous poster's question :o - inlet on mufller is 2 inch ID.
