I have a 1988 V6, automatic Fiero. It would not start the other day and I found it was not going into park, so the neutral switch on the trans was not letting me start it. It is like the transmission fork is misaligned, or the cable some how became too long. It looks like there is not adjustment on the transmission cable. If I disconnect the cable from the transmission, I can shift it by hand into all the positions, Park, r, n, d, 2,1. But the cable will not match up with the transmission/cable key. When the shifter/cable is in park, the transmission is in reverse. I don't think the cable can stretch and is not adjustable. Could the trans have a bent fork inside, or what?
