i probubly could have slapped this in the other thread, but oh well. i'm looking to get around 300/300 out of my fiero, enough to smoke the shit out of these ricers and mustangs who think they are the shit because they have a "cold" air intake that sucks in engine air....
i think i'll start with a 90's 3.4 block because its easy, and cheap. there are enough of them at the scrapyard that i should be able to get one with low milage. it'll cost me around 150~ does anyone know what the stock bottom end can take safely?
I heard that the use of the fiero upper end on the 3.4 without changing the pistons nets a lower comp ratio, so thats perfect for a SC. i found one on ebay for a scion that got me thinking. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...483516&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1182
what if you mounted a charger at the bellhousing, and fab'd a small lightweight "driveshaft" that would mount where the AC bolts to. that way you could run a SC with much less piping, so less lag. maybe its not worth the effort, i dont know what kind of boost lag you would get piping the air from the airbox, to the AC and back, so this might be useless, but i was up late last night and thought it would be cool =P
mounted at the bellhousing, you could slap in an intercooler where the opening for any of the aftermarket q-panels is, and only need a few feet of piping to hook it up.
orief, you said on another post about SC's that there is a kit that nets around 80 hp out of a stock 2.8 and thats running around 6-8 lbs. are those numbers realistic for the 3.4?
i read on another post that you dont want to use a lopey cam with 1.6:1 rollers on the 60* v6's. why is that? ati phase 3, or a wild comp cam with rollers sounds pretty good to me
even tho the advertised hp gain is around 10 hp lol.. aint like building a v8, thats for sure!
couple it with some extras like underdrive pulleys, and some methenol injection, some ford 5.0 injectors, i dont see why i couldnt get 250-300 at the crank.
of course im not thinking about all the controllers id need to run this without messing something up.. the msd 6al, methonal controller, prom reprogramming, etc
what do you guys think?
can a stock 3.4 bottom end take that? how about the getrag, i hear its only good till 200hp, or is that just the clutch? has anyone run a SC from the AC bracket location? and if so is the lag noticable, or am i just overthinking? lol.. so many questions...
