question? i own a 97 firebird.. i have like 6 months without moving nor turning the car on. i recently wanted to use it and try turning it on but it wont go on. a mechanic told me it was that the fuel pump was bad. what else can go wrong since it has been a long time without turning it on.

There could be a number of things that could have gone wrong ...
it would be impossible to diagnoise it without more information
if you have access to a fuel pressure guage checking the pressure will tell you right away if the pump is bad .. if the engine turns over but wont start I would also check for spark ..
a good trick would be to spray some carb cleaner into the intake by the throttle body and try to start it if it runs for a brief second the pump may be bad ... if it is the fuel tank will need to be dropped and the pump replaced..
