First time Pontiac owner

So, about a week ago, I picked up a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire GT. Bought it for $500 CDN with 241,xxx KM on it. Severe damage to the driver side quarter panel, door, and fender. But that'll be getting fixed this spring. Its automatic with pw windows, pw locks and a pw sunroof. So far it's just a bone stock 2.4L, but I have plans for the exhaust, air intake and transmission. nothin too special tho. so far I really like this car. I just hope it doesn't give me as many problems as my GF's 1996 Cavalier did..

i do not like that motor in my opinion the 2.2 ohv motor was the best for this model. no timing belts no overhead cam . just a opinion. what happened to the gf cav?

huge front end issues. it got parked until summer, then shes fixing it and giving it to her dad. i gave her my old '93 dodge dakota for her birthday cuz she wouldnt let me sell it (she loves it too much! lol). and there was also no sense in having 2 vehicles myself, instead of 2 in between the 2 of us.

as for the 2.2, ive heard lots of issues with head cracking, and the timing chain is a common issue here in wpg. my gf never had that problem, but ive been hearing of the head cracking issue more and more lately.

and I'm not a huge fan of this motor either, BUT, its got a lot more power than that 2.2 does. (i can spin the shit outta the wheels with the 2.4, where as the 2.2 wouldnt even squeek the tires) and mods for this motor are all over the place. and also because mines a GT, and my gfs was a bone stock cav with only pw accessories as a perk. i havent topped the GT out yet, but i got it up to 160km/h, where as i topped the cav out at 150km/h
