I am interested in what people's opinions are about the above exhausts. I want to purchase a 2.5 inch dual exhaust, either Flowmaster american thunder or a Magnaflow with the same diameter. I do want a loud exhaust. I went to a shop the other day and the sales person said if I wanted more performance go with the Magnaflow because of their straight through design. I get the whole flow concept, but I really like the sound of the flowmaster better. I have seen other qualtity control issues arise with the Flowmasters too, the Magnaflows seem fine. I do want performance but really how much more will I get?? If it is minimal 5 to 10, no biggie but if it is 15 to 20 or more that might be a different story. The kits are the same price so money is not a deal breaker. Any suggestions????

Be careful with one thing with both systems. It's called drone, a harmonic vibration caused by the exhaust which shows up at a certain unpredictable RPM and makes your fillings vibrate. Dont confuse it with sound volume it's completely different. I installed a complete 2 1/2 inch PYPES system with their mufflers and had to remove the mufflers. Used Dynomax VT. It has a spring loaded valve that prevents the drone effect but has no impact on wide open throttle. Do a google search from drone and you will find more.

How do the Dynomax mufflers sound. I really like the flowmaster sound but I have been researching the drone issue and it sounds like most people get it. This car is not my daily driver so I don't think it would bug me too much. I want something loud and mean sounding.

The top muffler is the VT click on the "Hear It" button. My car isnt a daily drive either but the "drone" occurred
in the range around 2,000 rpm and with my gearing that's about 40mph, local road cruising, it was a nightmare!

Its sounds ok but nothing like the flowmaster. I saw that Flowmaster has some resonators that can be bought (or I asume another brand would do) and installed after the muffler to either minimize or cancel the drone?
