I have an 04 Montana and both the fog lamps died at the same time. I have been looking at the schematic and don't have what I would believe to be 12vdc at the switch, but I think it suppose to be more like 5vdc to switch the relay. I have checked all the fuses and the relay under the hood (swapped with another of the same from fuse box)

Any ideas? Heck even if it is how to rewire and put on stand alone switch

Thanks

Hi !
Change with one another relay number 16 and number 17 (see picture) - see whether
there will be changes .

With your headlights on (low beams) does the little indicator light in the fog light switch come on? The fog lights only function when the exterior lights are on, (parking or headlights) and not when the DRL are active. If your headlights are in auto mode, they will only come on if it's dark enough to trip the light sensor. The DRL's on your vehicle are the parking/turn signal lamps.

No, the indicator light on the switch is not on, and I have tried headlight switch on full auto and then on manual, actuating the fog light switch.

The only thing I can come up with is the main headlight switch is acting up, I had something similar happen with the passenger window not working, replaced drivers switch and wala

Do both high and low beams work? You might have a problem with the multifunction switch on the steering column where it controls cutting the fogs off if it's in high beam mode, or you could have a bad fog light switch in the dash.

ETA: I would also look at the wiring harness at the fog lights and make sure all is connected, and trace the wires back to the grounding point to make sure it's solid.

I have my fogs wired so they stay on when the hi beams are on too. and yes both the hi and lows work. I was thinking that it might be a bad switch, but am not sure which 2 wires to short together to see if they will light up?

I have not checked from the lights back to ground to see if it is good, will try to do over the weekend, but am going deer hunting so many not get to it, lol

Tried changing the relay around, no luck

I wish I could tell you more about this, but I don't have a wiring diagram for your vehicle.

I will see if i can scan and upload soon, thanks for your help

Good place to start is at relay , short it the input and output pins to see if lights come on if not work backwards perhaps the multi function switch. Also i would look closely at the mod u did for the high beam bypass .
Also on my 03 the little green light on the fog light switch does not light up until the fog light are on .

This happened to me, turned out to be the battery. Try switching the battery if you have a spare one.

Like the battery might be getting weak. For me all my headlights worked just the fog lights didn't. The following weak van wouldn't turn on so I changed the battery and fog lights are working fine now

I had the same problem with my wifes 99 montana, I ended up re wiring the power to the low beam of my headlights since I tried everything and could not find the problem.

I took out the relay that had my mod on it and tried a normal relay, I have not tried a battery, it seems weird that, that would be the problem, but it is a car.

I agree about the little green light on the fog switch not lighting until the lights are actually on., that is how mine used to work, but no fog lights or light on switch.

@ Kfazzina,,, how did you rewire, can you provide details?

Thanks for everyone's help

How did you bypass so that the fog lights stay on with the high beams on? Would really love to do that mod myself. Was thinking that a feed wire going to/from the fog relay looses 12v or ground when the high beams are turned on or off?

The headlight and fog lights have a common ground, so I soldered/heat shrunk a wire on the relay ground and connected it to the ones beside the battery. I will look tomorrow at the pin number on the relay and update my post.

I have a pic, but not sure how to link it here.
