• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... Just another new member...

Name is Mac and I am a 52 year old USAF retiree, husband of one, father of four and a pastor to many. We have lived all over the country and a couple of foreign places as well so if you see me write "we used to live there," you'll know why. For the past six years we have called St Peters, MO home and it looks like it will take!

I bought my first Firebird (1976 T/A) back in 1982 when I was stationed at March AFB in CA. I only owned that car for a few short months but in that time I truly loved it! My biggest problem with that car was that it was black! We recently bought another 1976 Firebird from a young man down in Robertsville, MO. It seems as though he wanted to upgrade to the T/A himself so we got what I think was a decent deal ($1,150 for the car and the cost to tow it the 50 or so miles to our house) for a car that runs. The most immediate issue with the car was a severe fuel leak from the Holley 600 (80457SA). That issue was taken care of with a $4 accelerator pump diaphragm and twenty minutes of my time.

We initially bought the car to resell it since it really is worth a bit more than we paid for it but my 14 year old son, Jake, fell in love with the car instantly (we actually knew he would) and begged us to keep it! After a few days of letting him suffer thinking the car would be gone soon we went ahead and handed him the keys (so to speak)! Talk about a happy camper! He is, of course, well aware of the fact that 90% of the work to be done on the car is his to do and he's happy to do it! My thinking is that he'll be less tempted to drive it like a maniac knowing that he'll have to fix it if something breaks. It worked for me when I was his age!

Anyhow, that's us.

A diamond in the rough (I hope)

We do have four rally wheels so these will be gone when I get some new tires.

We do have some sheet metal and other body work work to do but we are prepared

Jake was certainly happy to see this car arrive!

Needs a new interior as the old white interior is history.

We were supposed to get two plates for the car but could only find one. After a bit of searching I found the other one! It was expired so why not use it to plug holes in the floor?

We will pull the 350 Poncho out since there is a low end knock I'd like to take care of sooner than later. Aside from that some work was recently done on the exhaust and brakes.

We'll be doing a frame on restoration of this car so be prepared to follow along as we do it!

welcome to the forum and good luck with both your project cars, looks like the Pontiac will share the garage area with a Mustang

Unfortunately, the fiscal planner of our home informed me that the budget could no longer support two project cars and, since the Firebird was a present of sorts, then the Mustang had to go. Just last week as a matter of fact. A sad day, indeed.
