my wifes fuel gauge will register and then after a bit it will go all the way to E and stay there? the low fuel light will go on (assuming that its because the tank is low) but i have no idea what the heck is going on.
her lighter doesnt work and the light on the stereo (the one which shows what chanel your on, time etc) doesnt work. are they connected in some way and if so where do i start to try to fix this problem?

thanks in advance

no they didnt, first was the gas gauge and cigarette lighter, then the stereo lights and then the driverside door lock. checked fuses and they all seem to be fine. I can check them again tomorrow.

Well the most likely cause of your gas gauge failure is the sending unit in the tank (~$300 fix) this is a common problem for gm's in this era . My previous 2000 montana had this as well as my 99 regal,we just ended up using the trip odometer all the time.By the way we had to replace the fuel pump on the 2000 montana and that did fix the gauge problem.

The stereo lights are probably just burnt out ,I don't think they are replaceable but I may be wrong maybe they can be replaced by soldering new ones on the board ?
