fuel gauge whacky when low

Anyone else have an issue with the fuel gauge fluctuate when low (1/4 or less)?
 
In my old 2000 that's the way it acted before it finally broke .Apparently this is a common problem for GM ,unfortunately the sending unit is built into the fuel pump (all in one) unit $$$$$ .Hope yours last for some time before she gives it up.Thank goodness for trip odometers.
 
Crap, that sucks. I did fill it up today. Put $96.11 in it and the fuel light wasn't on. Averaged about 21 mpg according to my calculator. Pretty good for such a big vehicle. I am going to replace the air filter and I know a oxygen sensor is bad (rear), so hopefully that means better gas mpg when I replace those two things.
 
You can find aftermarket fuel pumps for this van. I buy them for about $65 Canadian funds. Not sure how great they are, but haven`t had one fail yet. Used is good too. Find one with low mileage on it. You can actually clean the contacts of the sending unit with brake cleaner or electrical cleaner. Corrosion seems to be the problem with the unit and cleaning it this way seems to fix it. Although the sending unit is attached to the pump, you can by it separately BUT since the tank has to be removed to replace the pump and sending unit...it`s better to put a whole assembly in. The labour isn`t so bad.

No crap, I thought maybe they would be around 125-150, but used my Autozone App on my phone and holy crap, 251 dolllars.
 
I honestly can`t vouch for these yet, but I did buy one but haven`t installed it yet. So, buyer beware as they say! You never know...they may last awhile. I don`t want to shoot them down until I`ve tried them. Here`s the link to my Canadian supplier:

I was quoting a price for an Impala...sorry. These are a little more, but still worth the $$$. They may be using a different supplier.

I have a fuel gauge that seems to raise up higher than actual fuel when it has been active for fair length ride.

Occasionally when I have less than 1/4 tank and stop at a light after a long trip, it sometimes flatlines and thinks the tank is empty or near-empty (less than 1/16).

I faced the same problem like you. I got that product from Canadian website.You should check ebay.com or http://www.autopartsway.ca/.

Many Companies are offering the same products but they can charge you in American dollar so beware from them.
