fuel pump kicks on but when car is warm stalls and doesnt like to start for a bit

I have a 96 sunfire gt with a 2.4. It is a race car. It runs good for awhile then it gets warm, loses power and stalls and wont start for awhile. Any ideas what would cause this? Also wondering if a fuel pump from a 02 sunfire se 2.2 would work on it if the pump is getting weak.

The part numbers for the two pumps are not the same.
Have you done a fuel pressure test?
Do you have a check engine light on and if so have you scanned the code?
Did you check the fuel pressure regulator for a leaking diaphragm?
When the car doesnt start, did you check for spark?

Try swapping the fuel pump relay with another one in the fuse box.
