Hope someone can help with this problem with my daughter's 98 sunfire. A week ago it wouldn't start, wouldn't even turn over. We had it towed to a garage and they said it was the ignition switch which they repaired and the car started ok. A few days later it won't start again but this time it turns over but won't fire. Can't hear the fuel pump running and no fuel getting to the spark plugs. So I replaced the fuel filter and the pump relay and then it started. Ran for a day and now won't start again, fuel pump not running.Checked the fuse and the relay clicks when the ignition is turned on but still no go. Dropped the fuel tank and took the pump out and applied 12v directly to the pump and it runs. Seems like no power is being supplied to the pump.Any ideas?

Sounds like it could be a PassLock issue. If you didn't have it reprogrammed after changing the switch, it will prevent the fuel pump from engaging.

I don't think the garage changed the switch, just repaired it. The engine died when driving along the highway. I thought the security system wouldn't do this, only prevent the engine from starting.
