Looking at a 72 Clone Trans Am that has weird side marker lights. They are not flush with surface of car. Not sure if they are just cheap knock-off replacements that sit on top of body or if the fenders and rear quarters actualy have the recessed areas contoured into the sheet metal or not??

I have NEVER seen side marker lights like these on any bird before!

Inputs PLEASE!

www.amesperf.com shows those exact lenses for 70 to 81. The problem maybe that the bezels should be painted the color of the body.

I have to disagree. Below is the proper Marker Light with bezel and is completely flush with body of car. Who knows??

did you look at the replacement lamps? They come with an unpainted bezel and a gasket that looks similar to what is in the pictures you posted.
I have no way of knowing if the replacements sit flush, you could contact an aftermarket supplier with your question.
