Good Morning all, I bought a 85 gt that had a 2.8 in it which was switched to a 3.4 V-6 that was bored and polished and ported.

Well my issue is as soon as you start the car within 2 to 3 minutes the header tube are glowing red.

What could be the cause of this?

blocked exhaust or a very lean condition

X2, its probably a restricted exhaust issue, but I would check the Mixture with a O2 sensor before pulling things apart.

Is this happening at Idle? Or after running the engine at a higher RPM?

It happens within 3 minutes of start up. I have even taken the cat out so free flow exhaust now!

So does it still do it now?

you removed the Cat and replaced it with a pipe I assume. So how do you know the rest of the exhaust system isnt blocked?
is the exhaust excessivly black?
have you done a fuel pressure test?
as previously questioned did you try to use an O2 sensor to determine if the mixture is lean or rich?
