Got a dead 05

So my girlfriend has a dead 05 that was running and driving this summer , lookin on fb found a 96 that backfires the guy said good timing it’s around 186k miles needs a full exhaust got ripped off when he was having fun he’s getting the serpentine belt put back on and other parts but runs and drives - the fact is shoot flames out exhaust and if we were to drive no headers down pipe would over hear from flames going into rad, with a parts car not currently running and driving but good parts anyone know if it’s a decent idea to throw some cash and get it take some exhaust get it home or the exhaust thing a huge issue from reasearching I know it could be injectors/spark plugs sensors I know it isn’t just o2 he said did it when he had exhaust just looking for a little advice from some more experienced owners thank you sorry for such a huge paragraph

Why doesnt he fix it and charge more money for it?
Have you actually seen it run?
Has anybody checked what codes it currently shows?

He’s broke doesn’t have enough money to do so, I told him next time I check it out to make sure it’s running and driving , so the future of that is up to him being honest and no codes scanned as he doesn’t have an alternator on it before purchasing of course I’d take it down to a parts store and get it scanned

He doesn't have a serpentine belt, no exhaust system and now he doesn't have an alternator!
Find another car.
