Groaning, then no power steering - Help?

I've heard a groaning, on and off, for the past couple weeks whenever I turn a corner. Yesterday the groan was every time I turned a corner.

Now, today, no power steering. No broken belts.

Help please?!

Sounds like you lost your power steering fluid, leaked out somewhere. Hopefully it is only a leaky hose instead of a leaky rack-n-pinion. Have you checked your power steering fluid level? Running a power steering pump with no fluid will burn up the pump, so at least keep it full until you fix the leak.

Ummm..... that was the first thing I checked. The fluid is full, no evidence of leaks.

Your power steering pump may have failed. Unless you have the tools and experience you will need to have the car checked by a local repair shop.

Darn!! Turned out to be rack n pinion (sp) -- $500 for part and labor.
