I have a 2000 Grand Am GT with about 100K miles on it...even before I had this many miles on it, I have had SO many repairs, it's ridiculous. Here are things that have gone bad:

ALL break lines totally rusted and needed replaced
Power steering pump
Break pads (three times)
Some problem with steering that caused a whining noise, but they couldnt find out what was wrong with it for months (forget what it was now)
Starter (twice)
Defect in windshield washer fluid container, causing leak
cd player went long time ago for no apparent reason
Air conditioning went (it wasnt that it needed charged, there was actually something wrong with the A/C system, at like 70K miles)

Thanks!

Sounds about right. You're going to need spark plugs, wires, and ignition coils any day now. Not to mention a fuel pump and filter. How is it that you don't have an EVAP leak yet?

I own a 1995 Pontiac Grand AM SE that I bought new. I still use it as a daily driver. It has been a relatively trouble free car with only normal wear and tare. It currently has about 150,000 miles on it now. It always starts. It always gets me where I need to go. The engine uses no oil. It doesn't smoke or clatter. It still drives and rides well. Everything still works. No rust even though I live in northern Wisconsin where they use lots of salt on the roads.

My only complaint over the years is that there are many interior rattles. This was common for this particular body style. But this is a minor issue.

After owning this car for 14 years I feel I really got my moneys worth out of it.

You still see lots of this body style Grand Am still driving around in this area.
