head light issues

hey guys im on my 3rd j body now and have never had this problem before, i just bought a 97 sunfire GT, i have no parking lights, if i turn on "night lights" the head lights come on but not the turn signals, also if i look at the cluster it says high beams are on as well as left signal as a soild light.... now if i turn on the high beams all my lights in the front go off, ive replaced all bulbs and fuses as well as the hole switch for the lights...is it possible that the switch could still be messed up or wiring need help asap... also would this problem affect the horn as it only works when it wants to when it doesnt work i can hear the relay in the dash clicking

The head light wiring loom, behind the LH headlight and behind the windshield washer bottle is almost alway the problem with headlight issues on those cars. Open up the wire loom, you will discover quite a few original wire splices that weren't protected from moisture from the factory. Those are corroded! You'll need to 1 by1 repair the wire circuits using shrinkable butt connectors. Replace all wires that you find that appear black from corrosion,or you'll be this repair again.

would i have to take out the washer fuild jug to do this? and thank you so much for the tip i was begining to think buying this j body was a lost cause lol

Yes the washer jug and headlight assembly has to come out. The washer jug is held in with 3 or 4 bolts, and will come out of the bottom.
Be patient doing this, it's a pain in the butt.

headlight issues

I own a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire, Yes I aggree that wiring issues are common to this type of vehicle.

I am planning to replace the entire wiring harness because I can save more by not coming back and forth to the repair shop.

Any idea where and how can I get a wiring harness replacement ?

gm dealer ship but they will charge crazy amounts for it i no i use to work for a gm dealer ship .... or you can go cheaper and scrap yard it find a sunfire that got hit in the rear ........ i gained my turn signals and horn back but still no high beams but high beam light is on in the cluster any ideas or do i have to continue with playing with all the wires for the head lights ?
