I got replacement brass gears for my 1998 Firebird headlight actuator and had a chance to work on them this weekend. When I got the motor out and opened it I found that the gear was in good shape, but the shaft and disc on the shaft with the tabs to turn the arm were all rusty. Three of the four tabs were gone due to the rust. The one remaining tab was bent upward out of the hole, and not making contact. When I tried to bend it back down it to broke off.
Does anyone know where I could get one of these? I thought of going to a salvage yard and taking them out of the actuator on cars there, but the one might also be rusty,
Please let me know where to find these.
Thanks
Mike

I found out the same part is used in the window motors. Anyone have a power window motor or headlight motor laying around that doesn't work and wants to take the part out and send it to me I will pay for the postage.

have you looked on ebay?

Yes,but everybody wants to sell you the whole motor, not just the part I need on the inside of the motor. I was hoping somebody out there had changed out a burnt out motor, and like me they hold on to the used parts for awhile just in case, could open the case and take the shaft/disc out and sell it to me I will pay the postage.

found part

I found the part I was looking for a rebuilder had the part. He rebuilds the headlight motors and had an extra of the part I needed so he sold it to me at a reasonable price.

glad to hear you found it, good luck with your car
