heat/AC blower

the ac/heat has setting 1-5 but on my grand am only 4 and 5 work i get no ac/heat in 1/2/3 can anyone give me ideas of were i could start to look for the problem? thanks in advance

well the number 5 speed is wired seperate from 1-4. basic rule of thumb if it works on 5 but nothing else usually a blower motor resistor. chances are even though it works on 4 as well its still the resistor. could be the motor it self, check for power and ground at the blower motor connector with ignition on and speed set to 1-4 seeing if there is power on each.

In your opinion is it easier just to replace the blower motor or replace the resistor if replacing the resistor is even possible?

resistors are usually easier however the blower should be right by it so, if you're already there you might as well just do both.
