Hello all,

I was working to remove the EGR valve to try and clean it out and I managed to break the plastic quick disconnect on the heater hose that is nearby it. I attempted to remove the heater hose from the heater core so that I can take it with me to the parts store to get a new one, but I cannot, at all, remove the hose from the heater core pipe on the firewall. Is there another quick disconnect back there as well or is it just glued onto the pipe due to age?

Also, Can I just remove the quick disconnect and use a normal hose and hose clamp? Plastic quick disconnects seem like a less than optimal solution. Does anybody know the heater hose size I'd need to do that?

thanks !

that looks like it will allow me to just cut the broken one off, and hose clamp it to this new one. Do I even need a quick disconnect, or can I just host clamp the hose to the metal pipe the quick disconnect connects to?

Hi!
Here are some dimensions of pipes and connector
You can use a regular hose and clamp

thanks, that helps, too, to see the other end of that hose as it should be :)

Hope you got it fix, but on my 2000 I did the same thing. Mine was a plastic tee since I have rear heater. I bought a 3/4 brass tee (one with rids on the end) from Menards and 5/8 hose from autozone and fixed it. You could get a straight on if you need to splice also.
