I own an 89 Grand Am, no matter what the setting is on the climate control panel, air will blow out of every vent, more the dash vents than the defrost and nothing on the floor. There is also some sort of hissing noise coming from the car inside by the console that I can hear mainly when I slow down. I have checked all of the vacuum lines on the car and none of them have problems anywhere. It is getting aggravating because when the window is steamed up, there is not enough air coming from the defrost to remove it. If anyone has any ideas or knows how to fix this problem I would appreciate it.

you have a disconnected hose which is causing the hissing and the non functioning control. You have to find the source of the hissing.

any ideas where it could be, it sounds like the noise is coming from the console area, but I didnt see anything there.

are you saying you disassembled the console and still dont see the source of the hissing noise?

yes, I checked everything, I pretty much had the whole underneath of the dash apart looking, but I dont see anything, I even pulled the radio and the climate control switches out and still dont see anything unusual.

Check the back of the climate controls for any broke or cracked control tubes. If that doesn't help, try following each tube as far into the dash as you can and listen or feel for leaks.
