Hi i got a 2000 grand am gt and my heat on the inside doesnt get hot like it suppose too. It only gets luke warm. The car has a new thermostat just had the head gaskets done and i pulled the hoses off the heater core and flushed it out. I even went about feeling the floor on the inside under the dash to see if the heater core was leaking and its not. I am stupped now and suggestions will help thanks

Did the shop that did the work properly bleed the air out of the cooling system. Your symptoms sound like there still is air.

well i opened the bleeder screw and coolant shot out pretty rapidly. but i also had the cap still on. what is the proper way of bleeding the system.

thanks ill try that. need to go buy some more antifreeze though. just going to drain the whole system and start over doing this procedure

the weird thing is the car doesnt overheat. wouldnt air in the coolant system cause it to overheat as well?

You said you flushed out the heater core without a problem, did you notice if there is a heater vacuum controlled valve in one of the hose lines?

Well if you did see the valve it could be clogged or just has failed.
