From what I can see you need to replace the weights for the stock weights.

yes put the weights back to stock, read the instructions for the kit it will show you what you need for a stock engine.

From what I remember you will never need the aftermarket weights even if they were correct, unless your running a roller cam roller lifters and many other engine modifications.

When you modify the engine where it is much faster reeving then perhaps you may want to look into this again one day.

alright I will swap the weights out. believe me I always read directions especially when I'm in uncharted waters but that spring and weights kit's only set of instructions stated that black springs were light, silver was medium, and gold was heavy. super helpful

You dont set initial timing with the vacuum advance connected. You also are jumping ahead of your self by installing a Mr Gasket kit when you still have the 2bbl carburetor installed. Put it all back to stock and set your initial timing to 9 degrees BTDC with the vacuum disconnected. Then reconnect the vacuum and set the idle and mixture screws. Once you have the 4bbl carburetor and manifold installed and running correctly you can go back to the Mr Gasket distributor kit install.

alright iwill pull those weights out. that will give me one more reason to get that 4 barrel in there:).
