    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... Hello I am new on here, I own a 1969 Custom S and I am trying to identify the engine that came with it , The car is a project and would like to restore it the numbers I found on the passenger side of the block front are as follows 297100158 and no letter code below them if I could get any help I would greatly appreciate it
Thanks

are you looking in front of the passenger side cylinder head on the pad that is part of the block? Should have a letter code and if the original engine the last 6 digits of the VIN.

Looked there and no letters just that number, and I cant find any info on it anywhere

if somebody decked the block they may have wiped out the code and placed their own stamp on the block. You can try this link by casting number.

tryed wallace no go, time to try and find some more numbers.....lol, thank you

you scrolled down on the Wallace site and saw where to look at the numbers? are you sure you have a Pontiac engine in the car?

it is a Pontiac engine that much I do know, owned a 68 goat back in the day so I do know the difference...lol , I am just puzzeled I can't id the motor and who owned it before the guy that I got it from can't be found but they replaced the intake and galley cover so this is going to be difficult

2 = Pontiac

9 = 1969 or 1979

7= plant code ? ( not found yet)

100158 = engine for the 158th car built that year (69 or 79)

thats all I can find .

Doug in P.R.:cool:
