Hello my Name is Ronny and im really new to this site and really needed some help with my 81 turbo trans am, I would like some tips on how to recurve the distributor so the car runs better and i would like to know how to adjust the valves on it..i recently blew my head gaskets and i am now taking it apart and putting a new gasket set..im almost done with putting it back but ran into problems with striped bolt holes and hard to find a wastegate and rightside exhaust manifold that cracked, but am not really sure i should spend that much money in fixing it..or swaping it for a chevy SB..help me out guys it will be greatly apreciated.

Throw that turbo motor out and stuff a real pontiac motor in your bird not a chevy. A mildly built 455 would be a great option.

go for a zz 502, puts 600 hp in your ride. Ok, Im being unrealistic now, but a 455 or a nicely built 350 would be a nice swap. that 301 aint worth saving man,

It will cost more to put the ch3vy in there. Engine mounts are different, tranny mounting pattern is different, wiring is different, battery has to go to the other side, hoses are different, fuel lines are different, starter is different, accessory brackets are different, pullys are different, etc. Get the picture? Put a Poncho in there. It will run 10 times better than any ch3vy, anyway.

geeze, Didnt need to get so technical!!! LOL, Kidding, I was just sayin, anything is better than that little 301, but yeah, a good pontiac motor is probably the best way to go.

In my opinion a poncho motor is the only way. Long live the indian.

turbo 301

well thanks i will look into a 400 or 455 but for now the turbo 301 will have to do, I really need to know how to recurve the computer controled distributor to get maximum advance before 2000 rpm, and other mods that will help.
