Hello i have a 97 fire bird v6 3.8 l i have had this car for 2 years now every since i had the car the security light is on at all times while running,no problems ever.last january i had a remote starter/alarm installed,4 times this year i had this no start problem.power to evry thing but no crank with the key or the remote, could it be the after market alarm causing this? some people are telling me to by-pass the pass2 security system, but don't they have to do it when installing an remote start? any help would be greatly appreciated..i don't have the 600 bucks to take to the dealer...please e-mail me at chevy_202@yahoo.com...thanks so much

This may sound weird, but its worth a shot, There is a neutral saftey swith on the botton left of the tranny, it is a little white plug, pull that out and then try it, When I got mine installed, it for some reason did the same thing. It took a lot of people a lot of time to figure that out, then some redneck backyard mechanic told me about that, Ive never had a problem since. I dont understand how this effects anything, but I do know it worked for me. And you can do it yourself, jack up the car high enough to get under it, then use a light, find the plug, pull it out and then leave it out, start the car, then put it back in. Im assuming you have an auto? It may save you a lot of money, I replaced my started, relay switch, cylinoid, wires, pretty much anything electrical, and it turned out to be that stupid little safety switch.

Hi thanks for your info this may be helpful,i had the car towed to the place where the alarm was installed pushed it off the trailer and it started. they said nothing wrong w/their system and they also said the factory alarm will not prevent the car from turning over. this is the problem i was having, the factory VATS system will just kill power to the fuel and the spark.so now that you've said that i will look in to it, thanks for your reply...for as many EXPERTS on here there sure weren't alot of replies on this problem. Thanks so much i'll kep informed on my progress

that does sound like the nuetrul safety switch. Ill bet any money that is the problem then. Mine did that a few times. some times they get a bit of dust in them and for some stupid reason it messes it up. try it and
it should take care of the problem.
