Hey There,
I went to pick up a friend the other day and as i waited i turned off my car (2000 Pontiac sunfire) then it wouldn't start, lights were on, no dimming of the lights when i tried to turn the key. There was no clicks it just moved the needles on the gauges up then back down. I waited 1/2 hour and the car started. Drove it home and it did the same thing once I shut it down.

I know this sounds bad but I don't know where the starter is. Which cable do i look at on the battery that attaches to it?

I've had problems with the wires that attach to the starter before and I'm thinking that is exactly what it is, but I have never worked on a car before well at least under the hood, and need help finding out how to do this on my own.

Please help!,

You probably should pick up the Chiltons or Hanes repair manual to help you learn about cars. THe positive cable would be the one that provides power to the starter.

I had this problem with my car, it ended up being the security system activating, it took forever to figure it out, you have to take the steering coloum plastic peice off and the wires that go into the starter are probablly touching the metal somewhere if so you should take black electrical tape and tape them up so that they aren't touching the metal. Since I taped mine up it hasn't done that to me yet.

Once the security system gets activated it wont allow your car to start, so nobody steals it.

Good luck!
