Hello I'm new and have recently been working on my 79TA it has 400 Pontiac and 4spd have disassembled the engine to check and see what I have. it looks as though the engine is original and only change to it other than the #16 heads are cam and pistons I am going thru engine but pistons look great and would like to know if anyone could help to identify them? I also need idea as to what cam I should use for street diving? I know that's a big question so disregard if you like . Any one in Toledo,Ohio area know of Pontiac engine guru?

I have a machine shop already but they say chose what cam u want. I don't think to much will have to be done to engine ,it did run good but had a vibration found a problem with clutch and will have every thing balanced .they are a great machine shop I have been working with them for years Ill think pistons are good bore is great, heads look as though they where just done. I find it a bit confusing to figure out what cam to use though . Thanks

the cam choice depends alot on what the other components are. what compression, what intake, what make and size carburetor, what transmission, auto or man., what rear end gears.
