Help Identifying Part

I am hoping someone can tell me what part this is. Is it just a plastic "elbow" or something like that?

This is located sort of on top of the engine but towards the back of the engine compartment.

Probably coolant by pass connection, no year or engine mentioned, aftermarket has them available in metal.

I apologize. It is a 2003 Pontiac Montana V6. I'm sorry I don't know the engine off the top of my head.

I'm assuming it's part of the cooling system, where does the large hose in the picture go?

Just wanted to leave a quick "thank-you!" Your replies put me and my mechanic friend on the right track (it was indeed what you said it was). He believes there are 2 of those on the van so we have ordered 2. If it turns out there is only one, well then I have a backup!

Amazing that a $15 part can instantly strand you.
