Help needed with tranny in a 76 firebird

I recently had my 76 firebirds th350 tranny rebuilt by a great tranny shop everything was fine until recently when i drove it across town and it started making noise in drive and reverse its sounds almost like crumpling paper maybe a slight grinding noise but everything else is fine drives great goes into gear great fluid is full etc can't figure it out any ideas? I can't take it back to the tranny shop because I moved from NY where the shops at to Las Vegas Thanks in advance Jenn

[The noises you describe from what I read are coming from the rear planetary gear set ( worn or cracked or housing cracked) Trans has to come apart.
