I have a 84 firebird trans am that has a 350 small block in it. The car has no power going to anything except for the dome light. Won't crank over or anything. Put a new battery in the car and still nothing and the guy I was with said that the new battery drained. What can this be? Any suggestions please?

did you check the ground negative cable to see if the ground is good?
did you take a voltage reading at the main starter connection from the battery?
is the S terminal on the starter solenoid getting voltage when the key is turned to start?
did you take a voltage reading at the main starter connection from the battery?

Shorted out starter, or alternator or ignition switch. Check all 3.
