If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... Hey guys! First off, I'd like to start out by saying that though I am new here, I am not new at all to automotive Forums. I have spent the last few years in multiple 4x4 forums. I've had 5 different vehicles so far, only one was newer than 1990. They were all 4x4's. I've always liked the Firebirds, especcially now that they don't make them. I just could never really afford one I liked. I was out last Sunday looking for my next truck, I had $3k to spend, and I found a few. On the last lot I looked in, there it was... A 1996 Firebird, it said "Special $2999" I thought something had to be wrong, but it was immaculately clean inside and out, the odometer read 100,356, and brand new tires. It had some pretty big pipes coming out the back, but when I looked under it, I could tell it had a V6. The only options on the car, were T-Tops, A/C, and Auto trans.

Needless to say, as good as the car looked, I had to call the guy back. Monday morning I called at 9AM sharp, told him I'd be there at noon. I drove it and immediately fell in love. There was only one thing he knew of that was wrong on the car. A little hose on top of the motor that goes to the heater core had a little leak. I came back, and he let me go for $2900 cash out the door!

Anyone else think I got a really good deal?

Anyways, I've had it for 3 days now, and nothing has come up. It does have a slight lifter tap when the motor is cold, but seems to go away quickly when it warms up. Think Lucas oil treatment will help? It threw a code on me yesterday night, so this morning I took it to autozone for them to scan it, it came up as P1406 "EGR position sensor" Any ideas on what to do with that one?

It also had another code which I can't remember... something to do with coolant temp, or a bad thermostat. I'd rule out the thermostat, The car warms up fine and runs at a great temp. I'll have to check the coolant/water mix.

Thanks for any and all help guys! I know alot about vehicles, but this is my first CAR ever, and the newest... So there's alot for me to learn... but as I learn, I'll make sure to repay the favor by answering any questions I can!

Aaron
