If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... Newbie to PontiacForum.com,

Owner of a 1995 Pontiac Grand AM SE, came in to look for parts and DIY info.

Lots of problems occuring after 12 years of ownership.
  • ABS light comes on/off
  • Rear brake knocks
  • Check Engines come on/off
  • AC Stopped working
  • Powering makes noise(reservoir is full w/ small leaks)
  • Needs replacement interior as well.(Sunvisors, headboard, dashboard, consoles, possibly seats, trunk carpet)

Came in to see if anyone is parting out or has info for a good source of wholesale or used rebuild parts for the 1995 Grand Am V6 SE

Thanks!

ABS sensor(s) bad OR aftermarket brake rotors will sometimes set these off. Must assume that if light is coming on the system is not working.

Loose parts in rear brakes, could also be wheel bearing or cracked drum (I think you have rear drums)

Unless the check engine light sets a code you are shooting blind, but a first good relatively cheap try would be the O2 sensor. (even a bad wire) Or you could have a cat convertor gone bad (more expensive)

When the compressor seal goes bad and refrigerant leaks out the A/C will not work. Any A/C equipped garage can fill and pressure test and tell you the good or bad news.

Pump noise can be from air or dirt or if it is just plain worn out and working hard. (can also be internal leaks in the rack)

Tell you what, unless this car is "family" you can pick up a low mileage '97-'03 Grand Prix with s/c 3800 for under $10k, some as low as $6k.

Thanks for the advice. :)

I'll make a checklist to go over and see what the alternatives in costs versus another car.

  • ABS light comes on/off
    checking the sensors
  • Rear brake knocks
    will check drums
  • Check Engines come on/off
possibly cat or O2 sensors, only happens when car is hot
  • AC Stopped working
it might be the compressor, can't hear the clutch engage
  • Powering makes noise(reservoir is full w/ small leaks)
found a used pump on ebay for under $50
