My name is Cody and I live in Michigan. I am going to college at ITT Tech, and have a '98 Jeep Cherokee. Just yesterday I bought my '79 Firebird Esprit. I bought it for around 1600, so I think I got a good deal on it, considering it needs minor work.
 
How ya doing Cody. Is the Firebird in good shape? Tell us more about the engine and if you have any mods plans. I have an'05 GXP but always loved Firebirds. Girlfriend had a 84 pace car edition. And we wont hold the Cherokee against ya!<j/k Welcome to Pontiac forum. Been slow here lately but others we be in I'm sure. worked on girlfriends alot so if you have any issues, just ask. John And I know of a couple other Firebird owners here, one on semi regularly
 
I love the Firebirds from that year....what engine does it have in it?
 
I just looked up the VIN last night. It's a Firebird Esprit, 301 4-bbl V-8, made in Van Nuys, CA, and was the 1763rd made (I think). Anyway, the owner before me had put a 4-barrel carb on there, new exhaust, and left me with some interior parts which I need to put in. The owner before him had tried to probably make it a pro-street, because he put bigger tires on the back, smaller on the front, and seemed to change the gearing to taller gears for the bigger tires. I do not know why he did that. Anyway the owner before me changed it back to street, and I am in the process of fixing the front end. Here are some pictures of it when I got it two days ago:
