...Grand Am? I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am with an after market CD player in it. I think the fuse is blown in the back and the only way to get to it is to pull the CD player out. I'm not sure how to get the plastic piece out of the dashboard to pull the player out. Has anyone done this before or know how to do it?

its easy to trim out. simply pull it off. the simplest way to do it is to put your thumb in the cig lighter and just simply pull. now once that comes off your going to have to unhook your hazard lights, and your trac control. this is easy as well. for the hazards you'll need a small flat head. one those are unhooked move the piece to the side. you'll need to move the gear selector out of park. pull up on the parking brake, turn the key to on, and move the lever to drive or lower.once the trim piece is out of the way, then you'll see 3 screws. there either 7 or 8mm. i'm pretty sure there 7, but i'm not 100%. take out those screws and pull the radio out. there are then 2 conectors on the back of the radio. one is the antenna, the other is is all the electrical and everything. take those out, and the radio comes right out.

oh one last thing, when you pull the trim off, the plastic trim piece around the key is going to come off. thats normal, and it will pop back in. just make sure you catch it, or see where ti goes.

i've pulled out my radio about 15 times, its really not hard.

good luck

Not familiar with 2001 my suggestion is look around plastic piece for screws and remove them if there are none use something that allows you too get under edge (90* hook) and gently pull outward you Will then see how from there.
