How do you remove the window crank off a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire?

There is two ways to remove the crank without the proper tool...

1) Take a washcloth and fold it in half. Slide the folded side under the handle so it can grab the end of the clip and pull it off.

2) Take a flat tip (very narrow shaft) and bend it at the 1/2 way point.

Use the screwdriver between the handle & the door panel.
Slide it under the handle to move the clip off the base of the handle.
This will allow the handle to come off.

Good Luck...

If it's the type that's held on with those wire clips, what I've done is take a long nail and bend the tip at a 90 degree angle. Then take a pair of pliers and reach in behind the handle hook onto the clip and pull it off. When you put the handle back on,put the clip back on the handle and position it on the shaft where you want it.Give the handle one good smack with the palm of your hand and it slips back on and clips into place.

Have they got those stupid cranks that are held on by little round wire retainer clips that go around the shaft really tightly where you can't really get at them easily? My car has those. You can work a rag in there, pulling it back and forth to get it in tighter and tighter until the clip pops off.
