How much does it cost (Labor and the part) to replace a computer in a 1999 Pontiac

well over $600 new and recommend you get a used one with exactly the same options and motor,or it will be futile.I agree with her 20 mins...lol

"You Can Do It !!" lol. No, seriously, it's VERY easy. One thing, though, you will need to get the #s off the one you have now, to ensure you're getting the right one. You can also get one from an auto parts store-a little more than used, but loads cheaper than the dealer.

Please do not go through a dealer, as the price will be several hundred for just the PCM. Find one on eBay, a local junkyard, or my favorite place American Camaro (link below). They have the 3.8 v6 pcm for $95. There are 2 on eBay, both below $20.
If you can change your oil, you can swap out the pcm. All you need is a small socket and ratchet set. It is directly below the glove box on the passenger side. Disconnect the battery, remove the lower panel, disconnect the computer, reconnect new computer and battery, done. 20 minutes tops.
