...Firebird worth? I'm looking at a 1990 Firebird and the dealer has listed it for $4k. It's red, has the 3.1 V6, 80,000 miles, automatic, no t tops or anything special, does have powered everything though. Looked clean and it says one owner.

So does 4k seem about right? KBB and Edumds say its worth about half that much, but apparently those don't accurately price old cars.

Welcome to the site!

Offhand, the price does seem high for an 18-year old vehicle, even with the low miles. Plugged in your data for the retail value of the base model in Excellent condition - still only came up with about $3,000.

IMO, KBB, Edmunds, and some of the other online pricing sites seem to come in a bit high on their estimates, as compared to what vehicles go for around these parts.

One consideration is that when a vehicle gets to be that age, the maintenance and care throughout its life counts for a lot of the value.

Suggest to try to negotiate the price down to a level more in line with the pricing resources.

The car is worth whatever someone will pay for it ... there is no set in stone pricing for something that old, if it looks like it is in good shape and a one owner Im sure some one will pay that kind of money for it but unless it is a car that you want to pay that much for then I would keep looking...
