the car will start up fine after it has sat for several hours, but if I try to start it after just a little while after I have shut it off it will start sputtering and that die.. It also dies when I put it into reverse. i have changed the Fuel filter and have also had the codes ran and none showed up.. and it seems like its not getting enough gas but yet you can smell gas pretty strong after you try to start it..

I have been fighting a simular problem with my 87 pontiac grand am 4tec engine with electronic fuel injection............it starts right up when cold but as the engine idles down if i push slightly on the gas it will stall and then hard to start .......... i use starter fluid at this point. If i let it alone after start and warm up until temp reads 160 degrees is runs fine. Also if i turn it off and it cools down same thing won't start without starter fluid and I must let it warm all the way up to run fine again. Last shop checked sensors and change one but is better but still this problem.............

Jess, check the fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum line off, if there is fuel present change the regulator.

check -is there a temp sensor=that tells the computer -its cold?? water type sensor or in head / block?-search & ask a teck?? seems GM used some of these & contributed to the cold start problems!
