1.wheel bearings are usually listed as "consumables"

That would depend on a few variables...but that does seem like the bearing went kind of quickly.
Even if it is not covered by warranty, bearings aren't very expensive to replace.

This is low mileage for a bearing to go out, but not unheard of. As to warranty, you won't know until you ask.

My 2006 Torrent has 66,000 miles on it and is currently in the shop to have a front wheel hub assembly replaced because the bearing failed (loud hum at speeds between 20-65MPH). My C5 Corvette has over 200,000 miles on it and the wheel bearings are still going strong. Ebay is posting Torrent wheel hubs (with and w/o ABS) for between $80 - $140 new. Just FYI.
