I have a problem with a Pontiac firebird and ignition- the motor just...

...spins? i put a starter on it (pontiac firebird 94 - 3.4L) the other day, and the car wouldn't start up, so i noticed a wire that went to a sensor torn apart form the sensor just above the starter, what is this sensor? So anyway i put it together and the car started fine. I drove it home and the next morning i got a small backfire and just a spinning motor, no start up or anything just the motor turning.. please advise

check to see if you have any fire to the plugs. check that wire you fixed and see where its running to.

I used to have a firebird and usually the things that went wrong with it were the alternator and some called cellinoid(sp?).
