I think my car blew up! HELP!!! Pontiac Grand Am GT?

I was going down the road, and then when I went to accelerate my car made this really hard knock... i tried to accelerate again and the knocking got faster. I have no power my car runs really rough and takes for ever to get up to speed. Can anyone tell me whats wrong with it please?!

A bad connecting rod bearing can cause an engine to knock, but should not affect how the engine runs until you throw the rod and then it won't run at all. Take your car to mechanic for a diagnoses.

I had that happen on an old Datsun 510 when I was a kid. Spun a bearing and threw the rod. HAd to junk the car. Wasn't worth fixing so I parted it out at the time.
