I wonder why this car is getting so little response?

Thanks for the reply! I see that the bidding is up to $10,100 at the moment. In my case, I'd have to add another $1000 to ship the car to me in Oregon. Knowing nothing about these cars (other than owning a '67 Goat years ago), this seems like a pretty sweet car. I know most cars are not investments in terms of making money on them, but I also don't want to get burned too badly if I buy it...I do have the fever, though, and it's only February!

Part of what tears at me is that it seems like the prices that people are getting on eBay are a lot higher than what the site you reference does. That's one big problem with eBay-people end up paying more than they "should" for what a car is "worth". Good for sellers, not so good for buyers. However, something is worth whatever someone else will pay for it....

I guess I'm going to have to pass on this car. Tax time is upon me and I haven't figure out how much I owe yet 8<). I'd really prefer a 1966-67 with a 4spd that doesn't require a ton of work-maybe just some finishing touches...

That car is no longer available. The other thing you have to factor in is if you are not going to give the car a first hand inspection you have to pay someone to do it. You cannt buy a car on E-Bay based upon the pictures alone.

Yes, the car went for $10,300 and I have no idea how much the bidding ceiling could have been if I'd jumped in (and man, was I tempted!). Including shipping, I would have been out at least $11,400 for that car which seems too high for me but what do I know.

You're right, first hand inspection of a car (I suppose even more so for one this old) is the best way to go. For what it's worth, I've been lucky buying a car and two motorcycles site unseen on line and was very happy, but they were much newer and maybe I just got lucky.

Just how rare at 4 speeds in these cars? I don't see many in ads and would definitely prefer that....

I would think a 4 speed in a LeMans is rare which may mean it was a DIY project. On a GTO it would be much more common. They have a site which helps your verify authenticity of a car but you have to pay about $50. www.phs-online.com

You're saying pay $50 for the site or $50K for a GTO (which, sadly, seems to often be the case)...

It's not that I'm totally against auto trannies, I've just alway preferred shifting if I can. My '67 was an auto I was ok with it, but definitely wouldn't want a column shift auto...

I'm saying you provide them with the VIN of the car that you are considering and $50, and they will tell you exactly what the car had when it rolled out the door from the factory. You wont have to guess whether that 67 LeMans had the 4 speed installed by Bubba the mechanic.
