ignition problem?

hi there i have a 98 pontiac sunfire se with the 2.2l. the car is an automatic and is all stock. the car will start every day no problem. if i have the car off and the ignition is turned forward the battery dies within a minute. once jump started the car with start everyday after just fine. does anyone know what could cause the battery to die like that?

Have you checked and cleaned the battery connections both at the battery, the starter and the ground? Have you tested your battery with a voltmeter with the engine off, the engine on and when the engine wont start?

How old is the battery? Seems to me like the battery cranked out.
