I finally got my 99 Montana up and going. Had to replace the hub/bearing, tie rod ends, rotors and brakes. It's been down for about 2 months. It's been below 0 degrees so I've been working on it here and there. Now the air only goes up through the defrost vents regardless of the position of the selector. I checked the fuses and all are good as far as i can tell. It's been sitting for the two months with the front end jacked up higher then the rear. Coould this have allowed water in to the systems and possibly froze everyhting in the spot? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Was this a 'new-to-you' van? In other words, did the heater control work before? Is it possible that someone else had the heater control out of the vehicle and accidentally removed a vacuum hose from the back of the control?

Nope. I've had it for abut 8 years now. It worked before it broke down on me. I'm thinking it may have been in the defrost position when it went down. I'm not sure now. Are these vacuum controlled or electronic?

They are vacuum controlled...let us know when you can get the van warmed to the point of defrosting. Maybe leaving it running for a couple of hours might do the trick.

I`ll keep looking for a solution.

I've been driving it for several days now and it hasn't changed. I believe the controls knob is function as the air turns to draw outside air when it is put on defrost. I'm thinking i lost vacuum somewhere. Know where I can find a vacuum diagram? There's nothing in my Haynes book for it.

I had a buick maybe about 10 years ago and it did the same thing I lost all the heater/ac controls and it turned out to be the vacuum line from the engine to the controller on the firewall came disconnected ,all it was is a 1/4 tubing . Good luck

I was wondering about that. I had to replace the battery and I found a small diameter piece of tubing about 5 inches long laying by the power steering pump. I was maybe 3/16" though. Maybe a knocked something loose changing the battery out. I don't know if the van was like this before changing it out.
