I disconnected the negative battery cable and then installed an aftermarket stereo and used the wiring harness that the stereo shop gave me. I ran a "key on" hot wire since one isn't in the wiring harness. When I reconnected the negative wire, the car starts fine, runs fine, drives fine, radio works fine, but the gauges quit working and I have no lights that come on when you crank up the car (i.e. airbag, traction control, low coolant, etc...). How ever, the check engine light and the theft system light come on and then go out. I have checked all the fuses in the fuse box inside and under the hood. I don't know if there is an inline fuse somewhere? or did the BCM maybe get zapped?
Thanks for any help!!
Andy

There are no inline fuses. Did you go over your steps again to see if you disconnected something and then did not reconnect it?

I'm going to assume the OP meant a Sunfire, unless it's a 77 vette, and will move this thread, thanks.

Sorry guys, I have a 2002 Sunfire. I used to have a 77vette...anyways, I disconnected the aftermarket wiring harness and plugged the factory radio back in. Still nothing works, although the radio plays and cd player works. The factory radio display was going out on one side, but now the whole display is out when I plugged it back in. Could there be a fusible link going to the BCM?
