Hi I'm Donnie & Wondering What's Going On With The Pontiac Sunfire Instrument Cluster?? My Temp Gauge & Rpm Gauge Stop Working All Of A Sudden Out Of No Where. The Rpm Gauge Ran Into Speedometer & The Temp Gauge Stays Reading Cold!! I Was Told There Is Defects In The Instrument Clusters On These Sunfires & Other Gm Models, But Pontiac Saying There Is No Recalls On This Issue. This I Think Is Very Dangerous Not Knowing The Temp Of The Car & Other Owners Had Stated Same Problems & Defects With The Stepper Motors & There Speedometer Stop Working Also. Which I Think There Is No Way A Cluster Should Stop Working On Especially A 2005' Vehicle Or Any Year Vehice. Somebody Experiencing The Same Problems With The Cluster On This Car!! I Just Bought The Car Off My Cousin, Because He Had Lost His Drivers License For Awhile!! He Just Bought The Car In January 2010' From Chevy Auto Mall In Central New Jersey. He Didn't Even Put 3,000 Miles On The Car Since I Bought It & Took The Car Over, Being My Nissan Hardbody Pickup Truck Was Broadsided In A Accident & Totaled Out!!

Have you checked for any blown fuses? If they are all good, then yes you may have a bad cluster and it has to be replaced or try to find an online source that can repair it.

Typical problem with the Clusters on the Sunfires and other GM vehicles. The cluster in my 2001 Sunfire had the exact same symptoms, except the temp gauge would go into the red (overheating) zone. Swapped the cluster and all was fine.

BTW the Mileage is stored in the BCM I believe, so the mileage won't read inaccurate.
