brought to shop it started right away. they said bad battery and replaced it
this evening i started van no prob went for short drive. no prob back home shut off. 5 min later start again. battery light on. shut off. now the same thing no start same symptoms. i have searched threads and could not find similar prob

sorry to hear about van(cause I have an 03 also) do a search in this forum ,from what I remember one of the members had something like a bad crank sensor wire that rubbed it self open or was shorting against something that was causing a intermittent no start . It may or may not pertain to your problem but a start. Good luck and keep us posted/educated.

did the shop that replaced the battery check the charging system?

it seems that they never checked the charging system.
it seemed wiered to me but anyway i got her to the shop and they say the alternator is shot, only putting out 7 volts
any way new one tomorrow so we will see
thanks for the replies

just to keep anyone with the same problem up to date
it has been over a week and it seems that the main problem was the alternator
now except for a problem with a VERY squealy drive belt my van works fine

glad to hear the van is back on the road , check the alternator to see if it is lined up correctly or your belt is worn .
